Arsenal have made enquiries about these two transfer targets – report
Arsenal have made enquiries about signing Shkodran Mustafi and Jonny Evans in recent days, say reports
Arsenal have made enquiries about signing Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi and West Brom’s Jonny Evans but have yet to make an official bid, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mail is claiming that the north London side have been keeping tabs on both defenders as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his rearguard options at The Emirates.
Wenger is believed to be on the lookout for a new defender following the news of Per Mertesacker’s injury setback, with the German set to be sidelined for a number of months after knee surgery.
The same newspaper story claims that Chelsea are also interested in bringing Germany international Mustafi to the Premier League, and that the player has a £41m buyout clause in his contract with Valencia.
The report, however, suggests that the Spanish club could be willing to sell the player for around £25m.
Arsenal have already signed one defender this summer in the form of 20-year-old Rob Holding from Bolton Wanderers.
The Gunners finished second in the Premier League last season, 10 points behind champions Leicester City.
