Arsenal hope to sign one of these players before Sunday – report

Arsenal will try and push through a deal to sign a defender, according to reports in the British media

Arsenal are hoping to complete the signing of either Jonny Evans or Shkodran Mustafi before their Premier League opener against Liverpool on Sunday, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Gunners are out to strengthen their defensive options at The Emirates after Gabriel Paulista joined Per Mertesacker on the sidelines.

Both Evans of West Brom and Mustafi of Valencia have been touted as possible targets for the north London side in recent days.

Now, the same article is claiming that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is keen to quickly secure the signing of at least one defender before Sunday.

Arsenal have already signed one defender this summer in the form of 20-year-old Rob Holding from Bolton Wanderers but his suitability for a regular spot in the Gunners first team is unknown.
