Arsenal make £43m bid to sign Premier League star – report
Arsenal have stepped up their interest in signing Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City, say reports
Arsenal have made a £43m bid to sign Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City this week, according to reports in France.
French newspaper L’Equipe is reporting that the north London side have been stepping up their interest in signing the PFA player of the year in recent days as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his squad ahead of the Premier League kick-off.
The same report claims that Mahrez would be open to a move to The Emirates if a fee can be agreed with Leicester.
The north London side have been linked with a host of Europe’s top players this summer but have thus far only signed Granit Xhaka, Takuma Asano and Rob Holding.
Leicester are likely to be desperate to keep hold of one of their star players after the Algeria international played such a pivotal role in helping them with the Premier League title last season.
The report in France comes as the Guardian claimed that Mahrez has accepted the fact that he will not be leaving Leicester in the current transfer window.
Arsenal kick off their Premier League campaign with a home clash against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
