Arsenal have made a surprise move for Monaco defender Marcel Tisserand, according to reports
Arsenal have launched a surprise move for Monaco defender Marcel Tisserand, according to reports in the English media.
The Daily Mirror are reporting that the Gunners have made an approach for the Congo international as Arsene Wenger looks to improve his defensive options at the Emirates Stadium.
The same article states that La Liga side Espanyol were thought to be on the brink of signing Tisserand but the deal has stalled in recent days which has opened the door for Arsenal.
The story claims that Tisserand has struggled to establish himself at the Ligue 1 side following loan spells at Lens and Toulouse.
Wenger is facing a defensive crisis following injuries to Germany’s World Cup winner and Arsenal captain Per Mertesacker and Brazilian defender Garbiel Paulista.
Arsenal signed Switzerland international Granit Xhaka in a £33m deal from Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach at the start of the summer.
Wenger has also added Japanese forward Takuma Asano and Bolton Wanderers defender Rob Holding to his Gunners squad.
The Gunners have made a two-game winless start to the new Premier League season following a defeat by Liverpool and a goalless stalemate with Leicester City.
