Arsenal have made a £12.5m for Club Brugge centre-half Bjorn Engels, according to reports
Arsenal have reportedly made a £12.5m offer for Club Brugge defender Bjorn Engels, according to reports in Belgium.
Voetbalkrant are reporting that the Gunners have submitted an offer for the full-back as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his defensive options at the north London club.
The Belgian media outlet claim that the Arsenal head coach is hoping to add further depth at centre-half following Per Mertesacker’s injury setback in pre-season.
The Gunners manager has been linked with a host of different players in the summer transfer window thus far, although Wenger has only added three new additions to his squad.
Wenger snapped up Switzerland international Granit Xhaka in a £33m deal from Borussia Monchengladbach at the start of the summer.
Arsenal have since signed Japanese forward Takuna Asamo and Bolton Wanderers defender Rob Holding.
The north London side finished in second place in the Premier League table last season after a decent end to an otherwise disappointing 2015/16 Premier League campaign.
The Gunners will start the new Premier League season with a home clash against Liverpool at The Emirates on 14 August.
