Arsenal turn to Real Madrid midfielder as Riyad Mahrez alternative – report
Arsenal could attempt to lure Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez to The Emirates, according to reports in Spain
Arsenal are weighing up an offer for Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez if the Gunners fail to sign Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez, according to reports in Spain.
Gazzetto dello Sport – as quoted as by Football Espana – are claiming that the Gunners could look to sign Rodriguez as Arsene Wenger attempts to bolster his attacking options at The Emirates.
Arsenal have only signed three players in the summer transfer window so far despite the Gunners manager being linked with a host of names since the conclusion of the 2015/16 Premier League season.
The Gunners snapped up Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka in a £33m deal from Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach ahead of the European championship in France.
Wenger added Japanese foward Takuma Asano and Bolton Wanderers defender Rob Holding to his squad in July.
Arsenal will begin the new Premier League season with a home clash against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night.
The Gunners manager has managed 1,556 games throughout his career and won 10 major trophies.
However, Wenger hasn’t led Arsenal to the Premier League title since 2004.
