Arsene Wenger aims dig at Jose Mourinho ahead of Man United opener
Arsene Wenger has told Jose Mourinho that he hopes it takes him time to settle at Manchester United
Arsene Wenger has told Jose Mourinho that he hopes it takes the Portuguese coach some time to settle into life at Manchester United – so that Arsenal can take advantage.
The Red Devils coach is currently preparing for his first season in charge at United after having been appointed as the club’s new manager back in May.
Mourinho is preparing to take his United side to Bournemouth for their Premier League opener on Sunday afternoon as he looks to lead them to a winning start in the top flight.
Wenger, meanwhile, is gearing up for Arsenal’s opener against Liverpool at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
The Arsenal boss admits that he is hoping that all of the managerial changes in the Premier League mean that the Gunners will be able to take advantage of any instability by moving ahead in the title race.
Wenger is quoted as saying by Metro: “That’s what we have to show, that our stability gives us an edge.
“Jose Mourinho has come in at Man United. Will that all click very quickly or will it take some time? We don’t know.
“Sometimes it can work marvellously well, sometimes it takes time. I hope it takes time and we can take advantage of the fact that we have stability.”
Arsenal finished second last season, while United ended up fifth in the table under Louis van Gaal.
