Arsene Wenger delivers latest Arsenal transfer update ahead of Leicester clash
Arsene Wenger is remaining tight-lipped on Arsenal's transfer plans for the remainder of the summer transfer window
Arsene Wenger is remaining tight-lipped on the prospect of Arsenal making any more signings in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners lost 4-3 to Liverpool in their Premier League opener at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon despite initially taking the lead in north London.
The Arsenal manager has been criticised for his perceived transfer failings again this summer after signing just three players to bolster his squad.
Wenger spent £33m on Switzerland international Granit Xhaka after the midfielder moved to Arsenal from Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach in May.
The Arsenal manager has also signed Japanese forward Takuma Asanao and Bolton Wanderers defender Rob Holding.
Asked about his transfer plans ahead of the close of the summer transfer window ahead of Saturday’s trip to Premier League champions Leicester City, Wenger told his pre-match media conference at London Colney:
“Buying calms the fans of course but we have to make sure we spend it the right way.”
Arsenal took the lead against Liverpool thanks to Theo Walcott but goals from Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane sealed victory for the Reds in north London.
The Gunners beat Leicester home and away in the Premier League last season despite Claudio Ranieri’s side winning the Premier League title.
