BBC pundit claims Arsenal have let fans down in the transfer window
Chris Sutton is not impressed by Arsenal's apparent lack of ambition in the summer transfer window
Chris Sutton has claimed that Arsenal have let their fans down by showing a lack of intent in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners have been linked with a host of players throughout the course of the summer but have thus far only signed midfielder Granit Xhaka, defender Rob Holding and striker Takuma Asano.
Arsene Wenger is thought to be on the lookout for a new striker and a new defender in the summer window – but with the new Premier League season fast approaching, the Gunners have not concluded any further deals.
Arsenal came in for heavy criticism last season for failing to sustain a Premier League title challenge as they ended up second in the Premier League table and 10 points behind surprise champions Leicester City.
And Sutton has been less than impressed by what he has seen from the north London side in the summer transfer window thus far.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Sutton said: “I just worry about Arsenal again this season.
“They have shown absolutely no intent. I think the board and Wenger are letting the fans down.
“I just don’t know where Arsenal are going, I really don’t. If I was an Arsenal fan I would be desperately disappointed.
“They have said they are not going to spend. The board are happy. Champions League football every year, they get their money, and they have got a manager who can chose when he leaves.”
