Michael Owen states his prediction for Bournemouth v Man United

Michael Owen is tipping Manchester United to start their Premier League season with victory over Bournemouth

Michael Owen is confident that Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United will start the new Premier League season with a victory over Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.

The Portuguese coach took over the reins at Old Trafford in May after Louis van Gaal paid the price for failing to secure a spot in the Champions League following a fifth-placed finish.

Mourinho has already secured his first piece of silverware as United manager after the 20-time English champions were 2-1 winners against Premier League holders Leicester City in the Community Shield last weekend.

The Red Devils boss has added four new players to his squad in the summer transfer window, including Paul Pogba after the France midfielder completed his much-anticipated return to Old Trafford earlier this week.

And former Liverpool and United striker Owen is confident that Mourinho will make a winning start to his career as Red Devils boss in the Premier League against Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth side on Sunday afternoon.

“The Cherries won the corresponding game last season but I expect the Jose Mourinho era will begin with a win,” Owen told BetVictor.

Mourinho led Chelsea to three Premier League titles during two spells in charge at Stamford Bridge.

The Red Devils won their first trophy since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013 in May after a 2-1 extra-time victory over Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
