Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Bournemouth v Man United
Mark Lawrenson looks ahead to Manchester United's Premier League opener against Bournemouth on Sunday
Mark Lawrenson is backing Manchester United to kick off their Premier League campaign with a comfortable 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils are currently preparing for their first top flight game under new manager Jose Mourinho following his appointment as the club’s new boss back in May.
Mourinho has already led the Red Devils to their first piece of silverware after he guided them to Community Shield glory over Leicester City at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.
United finished fifth and won the FA Cup under Louis van Gaal last season but many are tipping the Red Devils to mount a serious assault on the Premier League title in Mourinho’s first campaign in charge at Old Trafford.
And former Liverpool man Lawrenson is tipping the Red Devils to get off to a winning start against Eddie Howe’s men on the south coast on Sunday.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “I am still not sure about Bournemouth defensively but they create a lot of chances and they do have goals in their team.
“I think the Cherries are in for another solid season but Manchester United will be in the hunt for the title this season, and I think they will begin with a win.”
