Carlo Ancelotti provides Man United transfer update on midfielder
The Bayern Munich manager isn't planning a swoop for Bastian Schweinsteiger
Carlo Ancelotti has ruled out the possibility of Bayern Munich signing Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger this summer.
The Germany international is thought to be available to sign after new United manager Jose Mourinho deemed the World Cup winner surplus to requirements ahead of the 2016/17 Premier League season.
The Daily Mail reported on Monday that Schweisteiger has cleared out his locker in the United dressing room and has been sent to train with the Under-23 squad ahead of a potential transfer.
Schweinsteiger moved to the 20-time English champions in a £6.7m deal from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich last summer under Mourinho’s predecessor Louis van Gaal.
The reigning German champions have been linked with a move to re-sign their club legend and end his current nightmare at Old Trafford.
However, new Bayern manager Ancelotti has ruled out the prospect of the Bundesliga holders bringing Schweinsteiger back to the Allianz Arena in the summer transfer window.
“He was a fantastic player,” Ancelotti is quoted as saying by Football Italia. “But he will not come back into our plans.
“I don’t think it is the right moment for him to come back to Munich.”
The 32-year-old scored his only Premier League goal in a 1-1 draw with champions Leicester City at King Power Stadium.
