Charlie Nicholas reveals how many players Arsenal and Man United need to sign
Charlie Nicholas believes a number of Premier League contenders are still short on players to launch sustained bid
Charlie Nicholas believes Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are all a couple of signings away from being Premier League title contenders.
The Red Devils finally completed a world-record move for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba earlier this week as the France international became United’s fourth signing of the summer after Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have been one of the busiest Premier League clubs after Netherlands international Georginio Wijnaldum was Jurgen Klopp’s seventh summer signing last month as the German head coach gives his Reds squad a face lift.
Arsenal have added three players to their squad as Arsene Wenger splashed out £33m on Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach as his big summer deal.
Tottenham Hotspur have only recruited two players in the summer transfer window so far, signing Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama and AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen.
And Nicholas believes the four Premier League title contenders are still short on quality ahead of the 2016/17 season.
“I still think United need another two after Paul Pogba and I think Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool are in the same boat,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
Leicester City finished as Premier League champions last season after finishing 10 points ahead of Wenger’s Arsenal side in second place.
United finished in fifth place which led to Jose Mourinho’s appointment as Louis van Gaal’s successor.
