Chelsea are considering moving for Germany left-back Jonas Hector, who has also been linked with Liverpool this summer, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mirror is claiming that the Blues are pondering a bid for the 26-year-old, despite the player having recently extended his contract at Cologne.

The same report says that Chelsea are determined to strengthen at left-back and that Hector remains a top target for Antonio Conte’s side.

The article also states that new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has made an enquiry about Hector’s availability this summer, after having let Baba Rahman join Schalke on a season-long loan.

Chelsea kicked off the season under their new manager with a 2-1 win over West Ham United at Stamford Bridge as they made a winning start in front of their home fans.

The Blues, who finished 10th in the Premier League last season, are aiming to bounce back by at least securing qualification for next season’s Champions League.
