Chelsea have £57m bid rejected for Belgium striker – report
Chelsea fail with a £57m offer for Everton forward Romelu Lukaku, according to reports in England
Chelsea have failed with a £57m bid for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Blues launched a £57m offer for the Belgium international but the Toffees are holding out for a much larger fee in the summer transfer window.
The same story claims that the Merseyside outfit would be willing to accept an offer in the region of £75m for the former Blues striker.
Everton signed Lukaku in a £27m deal from Chelsea in 2013 after former manager Jose Mourinho deemed the 23-year-old striker surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.
The former Anderlecht forward has scored 43 times in 104 appearances in all competitions for the Toffees during a three-season stay at Goodison Park thus far.
Chelsea have already signed one Belgium striker in the summer transfer window after snapping up Michy Batshuayi in a £34m deal from Marseille earlier this month.
New Blues head coach Antonio Conte has also signed N’Golo Kante in a £30m deal from Leicester City earlier this month.
