Chelsea set to be disappointed in race to sign defender – report

Chelsea's hopes of signing Kalidou Koulibaly look set to be dashed as defender prepares to sign new Napoli deal, according to reports

Kalidou Koulibaly could reject Chelsea’s advances and sign a new long-term contract with Napoli this summer, according to reports in Italy.

La Gazzetta dello Sport are claiming that the Senegal defender is considering a lucrative new contract offer from the Serie A side.

The Italian media outfit believe that the Blues are keeping tabs on the impressive defender as Antonio Conte looks to bolster his squad ahead of the new season.

However, the same article claims that Napoli have renewed confidence that Koulibaly will remain with the Partenopei this summer as Manolo Gabbiadini prepares to committ to Napoli, too.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has been linked with a host of different players in the summer transfer window, although the Blues boss has only completed two deals thus far.
