Chelsea are weighing up a move for Wolfsburg and Switzerland defender Ricardo Rodriguez, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mirror are reporting that Blues manager Antonio Conte is eager to strengthen his left-back options with Cesar Azpilicueta currently first-choice and Baba Rahman moving to Schalke 04 on loan.

The same article states that Chelsea’s Premier League title rivals Arsenal, Champions League holders Real Madrid and Serie A giants Roma have all shown an interest in the Swiss defender.

Conte made a winning start to his Chelsea reign on Monday night after the Blues were 2-1 winners against West Ham United at Upton Park thanks to Diego Costa’s 89th-minute winner.

The Blues manager, who was named as Guus Hiddink’s successor earlier this year, signed Belgium international Michy Batshuayi in a £33m deal from Ligue 1 side Marseille at the start of July.

Conte has also landed Leicester City’s title-winning midfielder N’Golo Kante last month as the Blues coach bolstered his midfield options.

Both new signings made their Chelsea debuts against West Ham on Monday night.
