Cole and Ferdinand deliver verdicts on Man United’s opening win
Rio Ferdinand and Andy Cole both take to social media to celebrate Manchester United's 3-1 win over Bournemouth
Andy Cole and Rio Ferdinand have both taken to social media to give their seal of approval to Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth in their opening Premier League game on Sunday afternoon.
Playing their first Premier League under new manager Jose Mourinho, the Red Devils went ahead in the 40th minute on the south coast thanks to Juan Mata’s opener.
Red Devils captain Wayne Rooney then doubled the visitors’ advantage after half-time, before Zlatan Ibrahimovic fired home in the 64th minute to net his first Premier League goal on his debut in the English top flight.
Adam Smith pulled a goal back for Eddie Howe’s side when he smashed the ball into the top corner from 14 yards out.
However, the Mourinho’s men held on and claimed the three points as they laid down a marker for the rest of the Premier League campaign under their new boss with a convincing display.
Ferdinand was quick to take to Twitter after the game to give his post match thoughts:
although it will only rain if Zlatan allows it! solid start for @manutd today. efficient, solid & job done. very Jose'ish.
