David De Gea comments on new Man United signing

David De Gea delivers his verdict on new Manchester United signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic

David De Gea is backing Zlatan Ibrahimovic to have a big impact during his first season with Manchester United.

The Swedish striker became Jose Mourinho’s second signing as United boss earlier this summer as the Portuguese coach moved quickly to bring in the forward on a free transfer from PSG.

The 34-year-old trained with his team-mates for the first time last week as he got his first taste of life at United following his extended summer holiday.

And United shot-stopper De Gea is expecting big things from Ibrahimovic during his first season in the Premier League.

Speaking in an interview with MUTV, De Gea said: “It’s really good to have Zlatan already here, training with the team.

“You can see he’s a top player, he’s massive, very big, with a lot of quality and of course he is a top striker.

“I think he will settle in very quickly. You can look and it seems like he has been playing here many years already and the same with the other guys we’ve signed [Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan].

“They are playing really well, their training has been top and I think that we have signed really good players.”

United finished fifth and won the FA Cup last season before the club sacked Louis van Gaal in May and moved quickly to bring in Mourinho as the Dutchman’s successor at Old Trafford.
