Eden Hazard outlines his Chelsea target ahead of West Ham opener
Eden Hazard is desperate to be ready for Chelsea's Premier League opener against West Ham
Eden Hazard has declared his intention to be fit for Chelsea’s opening Premier League clash against West Ham United on 15 August.
The Belgian playmaker has been working on his fitness levels in the United States in recent days and scored twice during the 3-2 loss to Real Madrid during the west London club’s pre-season tour.
Hazard struggled for form and fitness last season as Chelsea endured a season to forget and ended up in 10th place in the Premier League table.
The 25-year-old will be hoping to head into the new campaign in the best possible shape as the Blues prepare for their first season under Antonio Conte.
And Hazard has stated his desire to make sure he is fit for Chelsea’s opener against the Hammers at Stamford Bridge later this month.
Speaking in an interview with Chelsea’s website, Hazard said: “I scored two goals so I was happy with that and it was good to be back on the field.
“It was good but not good enough to win the game. It’s pre-season though and we hope to be ready for the first Premier League game against West Ham.
“I hope I can start the game against AC Milan on Wednesday but my objective is the first game against West Ham so I have to go step by step, I don’t want to go out like a crazy man and play 90 minutes but then get injured again.”
Chelsea are getting used to life under new manager Conte after his appointment as Jose Mourinho’s permanent successor earlier in the year.
