Everton ready to beat Arsenal to Germany forward – report
Everton will rival Arsenal for the signing of Wolfsburg star Julian Draxler, according to reports in England
Everton are hoping to beat Premier League rivals Arsenal to the signing of Wolfsburg forward Julian Draxler, according to reports in the British media.
The Independent claim that the Toffees have made an audacious bid to sign Draxler as new manager Ronald Koeman looks to bolster his attacking options at Goodison Park.
The same story says that Draxler has a contract release clause of £63m which would trigger the forward’s transfer despite Wolfsburg’s apparent reluctance to sell their prized asset.
However, The Independent’s article states that the 22-year-old highly-rated striker would prefer a move to Arsenal.
Arsene Wenger has been linked with a number of different players in the summer transfer window but the north London outfit have only completed three deals so far.
Arsenal signed Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka in a £33m deal from Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach before the start of the European championship in France.
The Gunners have also completed deals for Japanese forward Takuma Asano and Bolton Wanderers defender Rob Holding.
Arsenal finished in second place in the Premier League table last term.
