Glenn Hoddle discusses Arsenal, Man United chances and names title favourites

Glenn Hoddle looks ahead to the start of the new Premier League season and predicts the title favourites

Glenn Hoddle admits that he is concerned that Tottenham Hotspur could struggle to juggle Champions League football with a Premier League title assault this season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men are preparing for a return to Europe’s elite club competition after their third-placed finish in the Premier League last term.

Manchester United are currently preparing for their first season under new manager Jose Mourinho, while Arsenal are looking to end their long wait for the top-flight trophy.

Chelsea are also getting used to life under new manager Antonio Conte, while Manchester City are adapting to Pep Guardiola’s arrival.

And Hoddle feels that Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal are likely to be the favourites to win the Premier League title this season.

Writing in his column for the Daily Mail, Hoddle said: “It genuinely could come from five or six teams — and that’s not been the case since the Seventies. Perhaps, because of the transition at Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea, Arsenal might be marginal favourites.

“Tottenham have the advantage of being settled as well but I fear the Champions League will make life more difficult for them this season. Arsenal are the team who need to exploit the uncertainty of their rivals. But it is going to be very intriguing.”
