Graeme Souness: This is only thing missing from Liverpool star’s game
Graeme Souness wants Adam Lallana to score more goals for Liverpool
Graeme Souness says Adam Lallana needs to become more prolific to realise his potential at Liverpool.
The England international scored his first goal of the Premier League season at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday as the playmaker netted Liverpool’s second in a 4-3 victory over Arsenal.
Lallana only managed to find the net on nine occasions in 57 games in his first two Premier League seasons as a Liverpool player after Brendan Rodgers signed the England man in a £25m deal from Southampton in 2014.
While Souness is under no illusion that Lallana is a very good player, the former Liverpool captain urged the 28-year-old to add more goals to his game to really become a key cog in Jurgen Klopp’s side.
“The only thing missing from his game is that he doesn’t get enough goals,” Souness told Sky Sports.
“He works his socks off. He is box-to-box. He just doesn’t get enough goals. He has to do more of that.”
Lallana has netted 14 times in 91 games in all competitions for the 18-time English champions since his big-money move in 2014.
Liverpool are in second place in the Premier League table after their 4-3 victory over Arsenal at The Emirates on Sunday.
The Reds will take on Burnley in their next fixture at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon.
