Harry Redknapp tells Arsene Wenger how many signings Arsenal need
Harry Redknapp believes Arsenal are still a few players short of challenging for Premier League title
Harry Redknapp believes Arsenal still need to make two or three signings in the summer transfer window.
Arsene Wenger has been linked with a move for a number of players but the Arsenal manager has only completed three deals thus far.
The Gunners snapped up Granit Xhaka in a £33m deal from Borussia Monchengladbach ahead of Euro 2016 before Wenger added Japanese forward Takuma Asano and Bolton Wanderers defender Rob Holding to his squad last month.
The north London side finished in second place in the Premier League table last season after Wenger’s side managed to pip bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur to the runners-up spot on the final day of the campaign.
However, former Tottenham manager Redknapp believes the Arsenal manager is still a few players short of challenging for the Premier League title in the 2016/17 season.
“I think Arsenal will be back there again [in title race] next year. I think he’s made one signing, but he needs two or three signings,” Redknapp told BetSafe.
He added: “He needs a centre-half.”
Arsenal will start their Premier League campaign with a clash against Jurgen Klopp’s liverpool side at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday 14 August.
The north London side haven’t won the Premier League title since 2004 when Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira inspired the Gunners to glory.
