Ian Wright: This is what Paul Pogba has brought to Man United
Ian Wright believes Manchester United have their confidence back
Ian Wright believes Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba have restored Manchester United’s swagger this summer.
The Red Devils appointed Mourinho as Louis van Gaal’s successor in May after the Dutch coach led United to a disappointing fifth-place finish last term.
Mourinho has wasted no time improving his options in the Red Devils squad after spending £60m on Villarreal defender Eric Bailly and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The 20-time English champions added experience to their squad after Swedish legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic completed a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain last month.
And United made their marquee signing of the summer last week after paying a world-record transfer fee of £92m for France and Juventus midfielder Pogba.
Former Arsenal striker Wright admits United have their swagger back following an exciting summer of transfer business.
”They’ve got the swagger. They’ve got the swagger of their manager. They’ve got the swagger of Ibrahimovic. They’ve got the swagger of Paul Pogba,” Wright told The Sun Goals podcast.
“Manchester United are getting it back. Jose Mourinho is getting it back. When they were languishing and we didn’t know what was going on with Louis van Gaal, there were players who shouldn’t be playing for Manchester United. Now, Manchester United will be amongst it.”
United were 3-1 winners against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday afternoon as United made a winning start under Mourinho.
The Red Devils are currently at the top of the Premier League table ahead of title rivals Liverpool and Chelsea.
