Insider claims Arsenal have tabled bid for Germany star

Arsenal have made an official bid to sign Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia, according to Emanuele Giulianelli

Arsenal have made an official bid to sign Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia this week, according to Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli.

The Gunners have been linked with a bid to sign the Germany international in recent days after injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista left the north London side short in defence ahead of the new season.

Now, reporter Giulianelli claims that the Gunners have made an official offer of €25m (£21.5m) plus €5m (£4.3m) in bonus fees to bring the 24-year-old Valencia defender to The Emirates.

Giulianelli tweeted:

Arsenal are currently gearing up for their first game of the Premier League season as they prepare to host Liverpool at The Emirates on Sunday.

The north London side have been linked with a host of players throughout the campaign but have thus far only signed Granit Xhaka, Rob Holding and Takuma Asano.

Arsenal finished second in the Premier League last term, 10 points behind champions Leicester.
