The Gunners are thought to be on the lookout for a new defender as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his rearguard options ahead of the start of the season.

The urgency of Arsenal’s search for a new defender is likely to have gathered pace over the weekend after Gabriel Paulista suffered a suspected ankle injury in the pre-season win over Manchester City on Sunday.

Arsenal are thought to be keen on bringing Mustafi, 24, to The Emirates from Valencia – and now, reporter Giulianelli says a bid is imminent.

Giulianelli tweeted:

Arsenal are currently preparing for their first game of the Premier League season when they host Liverpool at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners have signed three players so far this summer – midfielder Granit Xhaka, defender Rob Holding and young striker Takuma Asano.
