Insider offers Liverpool transfer advice over Alberto Moreno replacement
Liverpool won't find a better Alberto Moreno alternative in La Liga, according to Guillem Balague
Liverpool will struggle to find a left-back in La Liga capable of having an impact at Anfield, according to Guillem Balague.
The Reds have made an erratic start to the new Premier League season after a 4-3 victory over Arsenal was followed by a 2-0 defeat by promoted side Burnley on Saturday afternoon.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp used James Milner in an unorthodox left-back role against Sean Dyche’s side after Moreno’s poor performance at the Emirates Stadium.
Klopp has been urged to sell the Spanish full-back given his inconsistent performances over the past 12 months for the Merseyside outfit.
However, asked if there are any potential left-back signings in La Liga for Klopp, Balague issued a warning to the 18-time English champions.
“In terms of the top La Liga left-backs available to Liverpool at present I don’t see anybody who is,” Balague told Sky Sports.
“Of the top 10 clubs in Spain there is nobody Liverpool could sign who would make an impact.”
Moreno moved to Liverpool in a £12m deal from La Liga outfit Sevilla in 2014 under Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers.
The Reds will make the trip to Tottenham Hotspur in their next Premier League game on Saturday afternoon.
The 23-year-old defender scored his first Liverpool goal at White Hart Lane at the start of the 2014/15 season.
