The north London side are currently preparing for their first game of the Premier League season and to welcome Jurgen Klopp’s men to The Emirates this weekend.

Arsenal have been linked with a host pf players in the summer transfer window but have thus far only signed defender Rob Holding, midfielder Granit Xhaka and young striker Takuma Asano.

The Gunners have already lost Per Mertesacker to injury for a number of months after the German underwent knee surgery.

Now, reporter Giulianelli says that Arsenal have made finding a new defender in the summer transfer window a key priority, putting their search for a striker on hold.

Giulianelli tweeted on Monday:

Arsenal finished second in the Premier League table last season, 10 points behind surprise champions Leicester City.
