Jamie Carragher discusses Man United, predicts title winners
Jamie Carragher discusses Manchester United and Manchester City's title prospects this season
Jamie Carragher believes that Jose Mourinho will bring a winning mentality to Manchester United but feels that Manchester City are more likely to win the title this season.
The Red Devils are currently preparing for their first season under new manager Jose Mourinho following his appointment at Old Trafford back in May.
Mourinho led the Red Devils to their first trophy under their new manager on Sunday as his side beat Leicester City 2-1 to lift the Community Shield.
Manchester City also have a new man in charge after Pep Guardiola was drafted in to replace Manuel Pellegrini at the Etihad Stadium.
And Carragher feels that City are more likely to win the title next season if Guardiola settles quickly into life in the Premier League.
Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Monday morning, Carragher said: “Jose Mourinho’s got a lot more experience [than Guardiola] in terms of the Premier League.
“I think Man City have got the better squad – and I think there’ll still be more signings to come, especially at centre-back for City.
“Over the season, I think how quickly Guardiola gets used to the Premier League – and how quickly his own players get used to him and how he wants to play [will be important].
“If that transition happens in the first two or three months and they’re getting towards where he wants them to be, I think Man City might just come out on top.”
Manchester United finished fifth and won the FA Cup last season under Louis van Gaal.
