Jamie Redknapp makes bold claim about Eden Hazard and Chelsea
Jamie Redknapp discusses Chelsea's title hopes and the importance of Eden Hazard's form next season
Jamie Redknapp has warned Eden Hazard that he must step his game up this season if Chelsea are to have any chance in the Premier League title race.
The Blues are currently preparing for their first campaign under new manager Antonio Conte following his appointment as the club’s new boss earlier in the year.
Hazard, like most of his Chelsea team-mates, endured a season to forget last term as the Blues ended up 10th in the table with their Premier League title defence in tatters.
The 25-year-old was the pivotal player for the Blues as they won the Premier League and League Cup in the 2014-15 campaign as he was voted the PFA player of the year.
And former midfielder Redknapp feels that Hazard will need to replicate his form from two seasons ago if Chelsea are to truly challenge for the title next season.
Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Monday morning, Redknapp said: “They need Eden Hazard to have a great season like he did two years ago.
“You can talk day long about managers but if the players don’t apply themselves and produce the top-quality football, Chelsea won’t win the league.
“If Hazard fancies it this year – because he obviously didn’t last year – Chelsea will have a really good chance.”
