Jamie Redknapp makes bold prediction about Liverpool’s season
Jamie Redknapp discusses Liverpool's title hopes ahead of the new Premier League season
Jamie Redknapp believes that Liverpool will challenge for the Premier League title this season under Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds are currently gearing up for their first full season under the German coach following his appointment as Brendan Rodgers’ successor back in October.
Liverpool ended up eighth in the table last season but have been busy in the summer transfer window.
Klopp has moved quickly to bring in a host of new players as he prepares his squad for the 2016-17 campaign.
Liverpool missed out on a place in Europe this season following their lowly finish in the Premier League.
And former Reds midfielder Redknapp feels that a lack of European football could play into Liverpool’s hands this term.
Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ, Redknapp said: “I think Liverpool can go really close.
“Teams can benefit from no European football.
“They could go close to winning the title. He [Klopp] has got his team now. It’s a big season for him.”
Liverpool are currently preparing for their Premier League trip to Arsenal in the first game of the new season on Sunday afternoon as they look to get off to a winning start.
