Jamie Redknapp: This Man United star can get best out of Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Jamie Redknapp runs the rule over Zlatan Ibrahimovic's Man United debut
Jamie Redknapp believes Marcus Rashford can get the best out of Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the new signing scored in Sunday’s 3-1 victory at Bournemouth.
The Sweden centre-forward started alongside Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney up front for Jose Mourinho’s side after the 34-year-old completed a free transfer to United from Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer.
World Cup winner Juan Mata broke the deadlock five minutes before half-time after a mistake in the Bournemouth defence before United captain Rooney extended the away side’s lead in the 59th minute.
Just four minutes later, Ibrahimovic scored his first Red Devils goal with a long-range effort which beat Cherries goalkeeper Artur Boruc to seal three points at Vitality Stadium.
However, former Liverpool and Tottenham midfielder Redknapp believes there is even more to come from Ibrahimovic after scoring two goals in two games for the 20-time English champions.
“He did some great things second half. He was floating around at times,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“He doesn’t flush this strike and it bobbles into the net. There will plenty of those that go right into the top corner.
“But it will do his confidence so much good.”
Redknapp added: “They will love him there. I still think how much better he will be when he gets people running off him like Rashford. He does want to come to the ball a lot. In terms of his debut, he will be well satisfied.”
Ibrahimovic scored his first United goal in a 2-1 victory over Premier League champions Leicester City in the Community Shield at Wembley last weekend.
United finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term.
