Jesse Lingard sets out bold targets for Man United under Jose Mourinho
Jesse Lingard has set himself a personal target ahead of his first season under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United
Jesse Lingard says Manchester United must aim to win the Premier League title in Jose Mourinho’s first season at the club.
The Red Devils are currently preparing for their first season under the Portuguese coach after his appointment as the club’s new manager back in May.
Mourinho has already led the Red Devils to one trophy after he guided them to the Community Shield crown at Wembley on Sunday.
United travel to Bournemouth for their Premier League opener on Sunday afternoon in what will be Mourinho’s first top flight game in charge.
And although Lingard is focused on helping the Red Devils secure a top-four finish this season, he feels that they should be challenging for the title.
Speaking in an interview with MUTV, Lingard said: “We want to be in the Champions League, of course, but our focus is on the title.
“My aim is to score over 10 goals and win at least two trophies. That would be a good season!”
United finished fifth in the Premier League and won the FA Cup under Louis van Gaal last season before sacking the Dutchman back in May.
