John Terry delivers encouraging verdict on new Chelsea signing
The Chelsea captain is a big fan of N'Golo Kante
John Terry believes N’Golo Kante will be a great signing for Chelsea.
The France international completed a £30m switch to the west London side from Premier League champions Leicester City last month.
Kante played a pivotal role in the Foxes winning the top-flight crown last season after the midfielder moved to King Power Stadium from Caen in 2015.
The 25-year-old was named Leicester’s player of the year after the French midfielder scored one goal in 37 Premier League appearances.
And Terry, who is a four-time winner of the English top-flight crown, is confident Kante will prove a big hit at Stamford Bridge this term.
“It is a great signing for us and he was incredible last year,” Terry told Goal.com.
“It is great to have him part of our squad and all the new boys we have got are looking good so I am delighted and looking forward to getting back to now. He was very good tonight, he has looked very good in training but he has not been back too long.”
Kante spent just one season at Leicester after the Foxes snapped up the midfielder in a £5.6m deal from Ligue 1 side Caen after helping the French side achieve promotion in 2013/14.
Former Italy head coach Antonio Conte took over the reins at Chelsea earlier this summer after he was named as Guus Hiddink’s permanent replacement.
The ex-Juventus manager also signed Michy Batshuayi in a £30m deal from Ligue 1 outfit Marseille at the start of July.
