Jose Mourinho rejected Man United move for midfielder – report
Jose Mourinho rejected Man United's proposed move for Miralem Pjanic, according to reports
Jose Mourinho vetoed a move for Miralem Pjanic in favour of pursuing Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, according to reports in the British media.
The Manchester Evening News are reporting that the Red Devils are on the brink of completing a deal to sign the France international after months of speculation.
The same article claims that Mourinho decided against a proposed move for Bosnia-Herzegovina star Pjanic as the United manager set his sights on Pogba.
The 26-year-old has since completed a £30m move to the Serie A champions from Roma as Juventus continue to deal with speculation surrounding Pogba.
Mourinho has signed three players in the summer transfer window so far, starting with the £30m purchase of Ivory Coast defender Eric Bailly from Villarreal.
The Portuguese coach also added Swedish legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic to his squad after the 34-year-old centre-forward called time on his Paris Saint-Germain career.
Armenia international Henrikh Mkhitaryan also sealed a £30m move to the Red Devils from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund last month.
United will face Leicester City in the Community Shield on Sunday afternoon.
