Jose Mourinho tells Man United fans to prepare for fourth signing
Jose Mourinho hints that Manchester United will announce a deal to sign Paul Pogba next week
Jose Mourinho has told Manchester United fans to prepare for the arrival of Paul Pogba next week.
The Red Devils have been relentlessly linked with a bid to bring the France midfielder to Old Trafford in recent weeks as Mourinho searches for his fourth signing as United boss.
However, despite all of the speculation surrounding Pogba’s proposed move to United, there has been no official confirmation from either the Red Devils or his current club Juventus.
But Mourinho, speaking on Friday afternoon at his news conference before the Community Shield, reassured United fans that the deal should be done before their Premier League opening game against Bournemouth next weekend.
Mourinho said: “We have a squad of 22 and we are going to have 23. You are right, I don’t like to speak about other clubs or players from other clubs. Other managers like to do that, they like to speak about my club and my players.
“I am very pragmatic on this. All that matters is what happens in my house and not in my neighbours’ house. Paul Pogba is a Juventus player until he isn’t, officially, so we stay like this.
“The market closes on August 31 but I think my club is trying to do everything to close our market before the 14th. Normally, next week, we will have our squad closed.”
The Red Devils finished fifth in the Premier League last season and won the FA Cup under Louis van Gaal.
Pogba left United to sign for Juventus in the summer of 2012 after being deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford by then manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
