The France international completed a much-anticipated move to Old Trafford in a world-record £92m deal from Serie A champions Juventus last week.
Pogba was suspended for United’s opening Premier League game of the season after the midfielder carried over a suspension from Serie A.
United were 3-1 winners against Bournemouth in their Premier League opener at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday afternoon thanks to goals from Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Speaking at his pre-match media conference at Carrington training ground on Thursday afternoon, Mourinho provided an update on Pogba’s fitness ahead of his second United debut.
“We played against Leicester with players with less training than him and we saw that match as a way to improve them,” Mourinho said.
“With Paul it’s a bit the same – not one single minute of any pre-season match but almost two weeks of work with us, sometimes with the group, sometimes separately, and the condition is okay to play some minutes.”
Pogba was sold to Serie A giants Juventus in 2012 after Sir Alex Ferguson failed to provide Pogba with regular first-team football.
The France midfielder won four successive Serie A titles during his four-year stay in Turin.
The Red Devils are currently top of the Premier League table ahead of Liverpool and Chelsea.
