Liverpool have rejected an offer from Crystal Palace for Belgium striker Christian Benteke, according to reports in England.

Liverpool Echo journalist James Pearce is claiming that the Reds have turned down an offer from the Eages as Alan Pardew looks to bolster his attacking options at Selhurst Park.

The Liverpool-based reporter tweeted that Palace’s offer contained £7m worth of add-ons as the FA Cup runners-up looked to tempt the Reds into accepting their bid.

While Pearce reported that Liverpool rejected Palace’s offer, the Liverpool Echo man stated his belief that a deal will be met between the clubs in the coming weeks.

Benteke didn’t feature in Liverpool’s 4-3 victory over title rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday in what was their Premier League opener.

The 25-year-old moved to Anfield in a £32.5m deal from Aston Villa under Jurgen Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers last summer.

Benteke scored 10 times in 42 Premier League games in his first season as a Liverpool player but struggled to tie down a regular starting spot.
