Liverpool to table fresh bid to sign star midfielder – report
Liverpool are reportedly set to line up a fresh bid to sign Joao Mario from Sporting Lisbon this summer
Liverpool are lining up a fresh bid to sign Joao Mario from Sporting Lisbon this summer, according to reports in Portugal.
Portuguese media outlet A Bola – as reported by Metro – is claiming that the Reds have already had a £33.5m offer for the midfielder turned down by Sporting.
The same report goes on to state that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is encouraging the Reds to table an improved bid for the 23-year-old Portugal international as the German coach searches for his eighth signing this summer.
The story also claims that Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan are all interest in signing Mario this summer.
The Telegraph is also quoting the same story, stating that Liverpool’s first reported bid for the player falls well short of the £50.9m release clause his club have placed on him.
Liverpool are currently preparing for their Premier League opening clash against Arsenal on 14 August as Klopp gears up for his first full season in charge at Anfield.
The Reds finished eighth last term as they missed out on European qualification.
