Lyon provide latest Arsenal transfer update on Alexandre Lacazette
Lyon have ruled out the prospect of Alexandre Lacazette leaving the French club this summer
Alexandre Lacazette won’t be leaving Lyon in the summer transfer window, according to the club’s president Jean-Michel Aulas.
The France international has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in recent months as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his attacking options for the 2016/17 season.
Lacazette, who part of the France squad that reached the European championship final, confirmeda on Sunday evening that he planned to stay at the Ligue 1 side beyond the summer transfer window.
Now, Lyon president Aulas has poured cold water on the prospect of the 27-year-old leaving the French club this summer despite persisting speculation surrounding the France forward.
“Lacazette will stay with us,” Aulas is quoted as saying by Evening Standard.
Arsenal have made a disappointing start to the Premier League season after a 4-3 defeat by Liverpool was followed up by a goalless draw with Leicester City.
The Gunners signed Switzerland international Granit Xhaka in a £33m deal from Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach at the start of the summer.
Wenger has also added Japanese forward Takuma Asano and Bolton Wanderers defender Rob Holding to his squad.
