Manchester United earn a 2-1 win over Leicester City to win the Community Shield thanks to Zlatan Ibrahimovic's late goal

Gary Lineker and Phil Neville both took to social media as Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s late goal handed Manchester United a 2-1 victory against Leicester City in the Community Shield clash at Wembley.

Manchester United took the lead in what was Jose Mourinho’s first competitive game in charge of the Red Devils thanks to Jesse Lingard’s impressive solo goal in the first half at Wembley.

However, the Premier League champions fought back and equalised thanks to Jamie Vardy’s strike seven minutes after half-time.

But Ibrahimovic then demonstrated his prowess in front of goal when he headed home eight minutes from time to hand United the first trophy of the Mourinho era.

Former England international striker Lineker was quick to take to Twitter after United’s second goal went in, writing:

And former Red Devils Neville was also quick to chime in, adding:

The win capped a good day for Manchester United fans after the club announced before the game that Paul Pogba is set to undergo a medical with the club ahead of his big-money transfer to Old Trafford.

And with Mourinho’s official reign in charge at Old Trafford off to a winning start, Manchester United will now turn their attentions towards preparing for their Premier League opener against Bournemouth next Sunday.
