Mesut Ozil comments on new Arsenal signing

Mesut Ozil delivers his verdict on Arsenal's signing of Granit Xhaka this summer

Mesut Ozil believes that Arsenal are lucky to have secured the signing of Granit Xhaka in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners moved quickly to bring in the Switzerland midfielder as Arsene Wenger bolstered his squad back in May.

However, despite getting the deal done early, Xhaka has ended up being Arsenal’s only senior signing of the summer transfer window thus far.

Xhaka will be hoping to play a part when Arsenal kick off their Premier League campaign with a home clash against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

Ozil is unlikely to feature after having only returned to pre-season training in recent days.

However, the World Cup winners has expressed his delight at seeing Xhaka sign for the Gunners this summer.

Speaking in an interview with Spox, Ozil said: “I already know Granit from the Bundesliga, which I follow regularly.

“He brings an enormous quality and even more potential.

“With Granit, we’re all surprised and excited. We are fortunate that he chose Arsenal.”
