Michael Owen is backing Sadio Mane to score for Liverpool against Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon.

The Senegal international has made a whirlwind start to life as a Reds player following his £34m move from Premier League rivals Southampton at the start of July.

Mane impressed for Jurgen Klopp’s side in their 4-0 landslide victory over La Liga champions Barcelona at Wembley in the International Champions Cup earlier this month.

The 24-year-old carried his form into the Premier League’s opening weekend after his superb solo goal was Liverpool’s fourth in their 4-3 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last weekend.

Mane suffered an injury in first-team training during the week after hurting his shoulder and as a result, the African is a doubt to face Burnley at Turf Moor.

However, former Liverpool striker Owen believes Mane will get on the score sheet if Klopp decides to risk his most-expensive summer signing.

“Former Southampton striker Sadio Mane looked sharp throughout at the Emirates last weekend and he might be the one to unlock the Clarets’ defence,” Owen told Bet Victor.

Liverpool are in second place in the Premier League table and behind Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United on goal difference after the opening weekend.
