Michael Owen hailed the return of Paul Pogba after the midfielder impressed on his second Manchester United debut in Friday night’s 2-0 victory over Southampton.

The France international was handed a start against the Saints after the 23-year-old sealed a £92m move to the Red Devils from Serie A champions Juventus last week.

While Zlatan Ibrahimovic stole the headlines with a brace on his Old Trafford bow, Pogba impressed in midfield as he contributed defensively and going forward for the hosts.

Former United striker Owen lavished praise on the France international after his eye-catching performance on his return to the Premier League as United notched up back-to-back Premier League wins.

Ibrahimovic broke the deadlock in the 36th minute after the 34-year-old centre-forward rose above Jose Fonte and guided a header past England goalkeeper Fraser Forster.

The former Paris Saint-Germain centre-forward scored his second of the night from the penalty spot after England defender Luke Shaw was fouled inside the area.
