New Chelsea signing explains decision to join the Blues
N'Golo Kante explains his decision to swap Leicester City for Chelsea this summer
N’Golo Kante has revealed that Antonio Conte played a crucial role in convincing him to join Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
The midfielder became the west London club’s second signing of the summer last month as he opted to leave Premier League champions Leicester City and move to Stamford Bridge.
Kante is now preparing for his first season with the Blues, who themselves are gearing up for the debut campaign of their new manager.
Conte officially took charge at Stamford Bridge last month after his appointment as the club’s permanent new manager earlier in the year.
And France international Kante has explained just why Conte played such a big role in convincing him to sign for the Blues.
Speaking in an interview with Chelsea’s website, Kante said: “I chose Chelsea because I spoke with the manager here and when I did that, I felt the capacity of the manager and that is why I made my decision.
“And of course I like Premier League football and that is why I decided to stay in the Premier League.”
He added: “There have been a lot of French midfielders at Chelsea – but they did it their way and I do it my way and I hope I can do good things at Chelsea.”
Chelsea finished 10th in the Premier League table last season as they struggled to find consistent form throughout the campaign.
The west London club will have to make do without European football this season as they bid to bounce back.
