New Man United signing makes confident vow to supporters
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is confident he can help Wayne Rooney bring further success to Manchester United
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has vowed to do everything he can to help Wayne Rooney succeed at Manchester United this season.
The 34-year-old forward is currently getting used to life at Manchester United after joining the Red Devils on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the summer.
Ibrahimovic has already made a promising start to life at Old Trafford as he netted his first goal for the club in the 5-2 win over Galatasaray on Saturday night.
The former Sweden international admits that he is thrilled to be linking up with Rooney at Old Trafford and is confident that he will be able to strike up an impressive partnership with the England captain.
Speaking in an interview with MUTV, Ibrahimovic said: “I think [Rooney] has had a fantastic career.
“He’s been here a long time, I think he came when he was 18 and, like you said, it’s 12 years. It’s not easy to be in top clubs for so many years. Players come and go. Top players are coming and going but he is still staying.
“He has performed at the top every year. I think he is a perfect example for young players to look at and take after. He’s been playing such a long time for a top club and giving results year after year.
“Not everybody can succeed with that but he is one of them. I’m very happy I’m in his team and will do my best to help him win.”
United finished fifth in the Premier League and won the FA Cup last season before Louis van Gaal was sacked and replaced by Jose Mourinho back in May.
Mourinho has signed a three-year deal with the Red Devils.
