New Man United signing makes cryptic promise to supporters
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has a message for Manchester United fans...
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has told Manchester United supporters that “something big” is happening at the club under Jose Mourinho this season.
The Swedish striker scored his first official goal for the Red Devils as he nodded home in the second half to hand Manchester United a 2-1 win over Leicester City to lift the Community Shield.
There is a palpable sense of optimism around Manchester United this summer following Mourinho’s appointment as the club’s new manager back in May.
The Red Devils are now gearing up for their first Premier League game under their new coach, with United set to take on Bournemouth in their top-flight opener next weekend.
And the 34-year-old Ibrahimovic admits that he is feeling upbeat ahead of his first taste of Premier League football.
Speaking to BT Sport after the game on Sunday, Ibrahimovic said: “Something big is going on with our team. We begin with a trophy.
“I feel very good. The team is fantastic. Good team-mates, good spirit. The coach does everything to win.
“It is probably the biggest club I played in. The only one I can compare it to is Milan.”
United finished fifth in the Premier League and won the FA Cup under Louis van Gaal last season.
