New Man United signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic likens himself to a lion
Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic insists he isn't arrogant
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has refuted claims that the Manchester United striker is arrogant ahead of Sunday’s opener against Bournemouth.
The Red Devils completed the signing of the Sweden international on a free transfer from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in July.
Ibrahimovic scored United’s winner in a 2-1 victory over Premier League holders Leicester City in the Community Shield at Wembley last weekend.
The Sweden international has arrived at United with a reputation as one of the world’s best strikers after decorated spells at AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, PSG and Barcelona.
While the new United striker says he is focused on his family in his private life, Ibrahimovic likened himself to a lion on the pitch.
“I am a family guy. I am taking care of my family. When I come on the pitch, I’m a lion. That’s the big difference,” Ibrahimovic told Sky Sports.
“I don’t believe that I am arrogant in the way people think. I am confident. I believe in myself. That’s not being arrogant. It is an individual strength in the human being.”
Ibrahimovic was one of four new signings at United this summer after new United manager Jose Mourinho revamped his Red Devils squad following his appointment in May.
Eric Bailly completed a £30m deal from Villarreal in June before Henrikh Mkhitaryan swapped Borussia Dortmund for United in a big-money deal.
Mourinho finally landed Juventus star Paul Pogba earlier this week after months of speculation linking the France man with a move to United.
