Paul Dickov claims Chelsea will sign Juventus defender
The former Arsenal forward is tipping Chelsea to sign Italy star Leonardo Bonucci
Paul Dickov believes Chelsea will complete the signing of Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci before the close of the summer transfer window.
Former Italy head coach Antonio Conte has taken over the reins at Stamford Bridge after a disappointing season under Jose Mourinho and Guus Hiddink last term.
The 47-year-old has already signed Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi from Marseille at the start of July before the Blues completed a big-money transfer for Leicester City’s title-winning midfielder N’Golo Kante.
Bonucci was one of the most-impressive defenders at the European championship in France, which inevitably led to speculation linking the 29-year-old centre-half with a move to the Premier League.
The Italian defender played under Conte during his spell in charge of Juventus, while Bonucci formed a key part of the manager’s Azzurri defence as the four-time world champions reached the Euro 2016 quarter-finals.
Former Arsenal and Manchester City striker Dickov believes Chelsea will complete the signing of Bonucci in the summer transfer window.
“Yeah, Bonucci is coming in [to Chelsea] and it’s the formation that he [Conte] is going to play as well. Wherever he’s been, as a manager and especially with the league and the Euros,” Dickov told BetSafe.
“When you watch the Italian team, they’re so disciplined and organised with and without the ball.
“He’s a bit of a character, he’s got the enthusiasm at the touchline, and he’s very animated as well.”
Bonucci has won five successive Serie A titles since his move to Juventus from Bari in 2011.
